Happy Stone ID
FAQ

Everything you want to know

Question not here? The explainer articles on the blog go deeper into everything.

What does an account cost?
Nothing. Happystone is free: unlimited stone registrations, find logging and journey tracking.
Does a finder need an account?
No. Logging a find only takes the stone ID. You only need an account to register your own stones or receive notifications.
How does my stone get an ID?
When you register a stone in the app it automatically gets a unique code, for example HS-7F2K. Write it on the stone with an acrylic marker and varnish over it.
Is it safe for kids?
Yes. Kids get their own profile inside the family account, without an email address. You never share your home location: you choose where to place a stone.
What if my stone is never found?
Patience! Some stones sit quietly for months and then suddenly turn up two countries away. After a long silence it gets the "lost" status, but it can always come back.
May I keep a stone I found?
You may, but it’s more fun to hide it again — that keeps the story growing. Do log the find either way, so the maker knows the stone is alive.
Where can I place stones?
Where people pass by: benches, posts, windowsills, playgrounds. Not in protected nature, not buried, and not on private property without permission.
Which languages does the app support?
Dutch, English, German, French, Italian and Danish. The site you’re viewing switches between Dutch and English.
